

On Thursday, March 21st, Clifford Everett Burns peacefully died at his home in Tallahassee. He was in the presence of his wife, Donna, and his daughter and son-in-law, LeeAnn and Robin Rodgers.
Cliff was a native of Taylor County, Florida, and grew up in Perry where he spent his childhood. In his hometown, Cliff was known by his elementary school buddies as ‘King of The Park.’ Here, you could find Cliff climbing trees and swinging from limb to limb, playing baseball and expressing early signs of leadership. He was an unforgettable force from the beginning.
Cliff graduated from Taylor County High School in 1954 and went on to attend Florida State University. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, and the Seminole Boosters. He was a Golden Chief. Cliff was also a member of the Tallahassee Quarter Back Club, the Optimists Club and Springtime Tallahassee. Cliff coached Little League Baseball at Winthrop Park (et al) for Twenty Five years. He became a State Farm Agent in September, 1962, and recently celebrated his Fifty Year Anniversary with State Farm Insurance. Throughout the years, Cliff dedicated himself to life long business and civic leadership.
Cliff was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Sorrels Burns, and father, Everett S. Burns and his first wife, MaryAnn Martin Burns.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Anderson Burns; his sister, Beulah Jean Hart (Mitchell); his daughter, Debbie Rhody (Sam; son, Clifford E. (Bo) Burns, Jr. (Bobbi Jo); daughter, LeeAnn Rodgers (Robin); and son, William Bradley Burns (Heidi). Cliff has two grandsons, Matt Rhody and Kyle Rodger; and three granddaughters, Lindsey Rodgers-Wohlfrom, Samantha Rhody and Brenna Burns. He is also survived by his former brothers-in-law, Chuck Martin (Mary Lou), Louis Martin (Becky); and sisters-in-law, Carol Bennett (Art) and Rachel Hunter (Charlie). His extended family members include his nephew, Michael Hart; and niece, Angie Hart Taylor; his step sons, Gary Evans (Rebecca), Bryan Evans, Stacy Wallace, Chris Wallace (Jessie); his step daughter, Shiloh Wallace-Elliott (Jaime) and granddaughter, Indira Evans.
A visitation will be held at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park Chapel – 700 Timberlane Rd- on Monday, March 25, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church - 2200 North Meridian Rd – on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park.
