

He is survived by his beloved wife, Anita Dunphy Krick; four sons, Daniel, Michael (Lisa), Kevin, and Tom (Debbie); two daughters, Kathy Ott (Tim), and Anita "Gingy" Sampson (Paul); and twelve grandchildren, Nick Ott (Evelyn), Brandon Krick (Kaley), Courtney Krick, Tammy Ott, Caitlin Sampson, Barron Krick, Nathan McClain, Stephen Sampson, Jake McClain, Sage McClain, Dashiel Krick, and Sisaly Krick.
A native of Frankfort, Ohio, he was the son of the late Frank Alexander Krick, Jr., and Madge Belle Dennis Ritter of Chillicothe, Ohio. Dan was a graduate of Frankfort High School, Class of 1950 and enjoyed sharing his memories at the many class reunions.
In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S Air Force where he attained the level of Staff Sergeant in the 61st Fighter Squadron. While stationed at Harmon Field in Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada, he said "I fought the battle of Newfoundland and was captured by my bride," Anita Dunphy. Dan and Anita were married May 8, 1955.
After honorable discharge, he moved to Frankfort, Ohio with his new bride where he worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Here their family grew, to include their six children.
Dan and family left his beloved Frankfort, Ohio in the fall of 1966 and moved to Tallahassee Florida. He worked for the Federal Correctional Institution until his retirement in February 1982. Upon retirement, he enjoyed fishing and watching TV. Dan loved traveling with is son Daniel to FSU "away" games - with his favorite trips being Colorado and Notre Dame. He loved fishing and hunting with his son Kevin and snake hunting with his son Mike. Dan loved a good auction and enjoyed evenings at "The Cabin" with his youngest son Tom. But best of all, he loved watching his stories "The Young and the Restless" with his daughters - Kathy and Gingy.
In June 1981, he was blessed with his first grandchild -Nick Ott, #1 Grandson, followed by eleven more. Brandon, the "Rocket Scientist"; Courtney, now "teaching" the future rocket scientists of the world; Tammy, working to fulfill her "Poppy's" high school year book dream of opening a veterinary clinic; Caitlin, a/k/a "Red", the fashionista and the creative one; Barron, who makes his Poppy so proud as a Leon High "Marching Redcoat"; Nate, recently awarded a 4-yr scholarship to college; Stephen (aka Stevie Wonder), the family athlete; Jake, the "Chef"; Sage, the family "artist and photographer extraordinaire"; Dashiel, "The Dashman"; and Sisaly, "The Princess" of the family.
Dan was an avid hunter and fisherman. During his retirement years, he loved to fish at the "Jim Woodruff Dam" in Chattahoochee, FL. He spent many years catching those "Dam" fish, including the 30-lb, 38 ½ in Striped Bass on the 1st day of winter in the year of 1992.
In July, he traveled to Newfoundland, Canada for the "Dunphy" Family Reunion - back to the country where his "heart" was originally captured by his wife, Anita, in 1954. During the visit, he was able to share with his memories of the first day he saw his soon-to-be bride - including describing the moment he first saw her and exactly what she was wearing.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 from 6 - 8 pm at Culley's MeadowWood Riggins Road Chapel where funeral service will be held 2:00 p m Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Burial will follow at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Florida.
