

Donald F. Summers, 93, of Tallahassee, died Saturday, April 20, 2013.
He was born August 4, 1919, in Bristol, Florida, the son of the late Bauch and Priscilla Summers, and the middle of their seven children. He graduated from Liberty County High School in 1937, as class valedictorian. He was a proud alumnus of the University of Florida, Class of 1941. After college, he served as a U.S. Army officer during World War II. After the war, he settled in Tallahassee, and served in state government for 38 years, retiring from the Florida Department of Labor and Employment Security. He was active for decades in the First Christian Church of Tallahassee, serving as an elder and Sunday School teacher.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eloise Maige Summers; sons, Keith (Donna) Summers of Bristol, Greg Summers of Jacksonville; a daughter, Donna (Adam) Arnold of Tallahassee; three granddaughters, Leigh Ann Summers, Erin Arnold, and Kaley Arnold; and two brothers, Glenn Summers and Bauchie (Yvonne) Summers, of Bristol.
He was pre-deceased by his parents; a sister, Floy Chestang; three brothers, Vernon, Jack, and Wayne Summers; and two grandsons, Justin and Caleb Summers.
Visitation will be Monday evening, 6-8 p.m., at Culley's Riggins Road. Services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Culley's Riggins Road. Burial will be Tuesday, 3 p.m. at the Summers family cemetery in Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Tallahassee.
