Earl Benson Butler

Earl Benson Butler Jr., age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2024, with his family by his side in Tallahassee Florida. He was born June 24, 1937, in Long island, New York, to Ear; Benson Butler Sr,. and Florence (Bamford) Butler. While serving in the U>S> Army, Earl met and married Maryvonne on May 28,1960, in Montoir-de-Bretagne, France. Following his military service, Earl and Maryvonne moved to Pompano Beach, Florida, where Earl earned hos undergraduate degree in Accounting and Masters in Business Administration, and was a practicing CPA and tax consultant.

Earl worked several years in the banking industry but the most treasured part of his career was as a college professor at Broward Community College, where he taught accounting to thousands of students over two decades. His sense of humor and kind, affable nature drew people to him and impacted so many in a positive way. Earl deeply loved his family and devoted his life to their care and happiness. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Maryvonne, his son Earl Marcel, his daughter Tami Yvonne Fillyaw, his granddaughters Adriana and Alyssa all of Tallahassee, Florida, and brother Jim of West Palm Beach, Florida.

A a celebration of life for Earl will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Culley's Meadowwood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32312. A graveside service with military honors will occur Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32311.
