I went to Dr. Walker for over thirty years. I am very saddened by his passing and I would like to extend my condolences to his family

Whenever I ran into Dr. Walker the first thing he would ask is "What have you done for Optometry today?"
He was my inspiration in our profession.

It has been a pleasure to have known and have worked with such a great man, Dr. Walker at the State Board of Optometry for so many years. There were few men as influential in my life as Ed Walker from the time I called him "Dad Walker" in DeMolay to knowing him as a friend in my adult years. Ed Walker was one of the finest men I have ever met.  The world will be lessened by his passing.  He impacted many lives professionally and countless more through his work with Demolay.

Dr. Walker became a good friend years ago when I became a part of the Lake Mystic community and got to know his two sons.  He and I had a lot of conversations at the Lake about life and the belief in Our Lord.  Most recently he continued to Pray for my grandson Kase and check on his condition with me.  I will miss him dearly and wish Comfort to the Family.

He was a neighbor I will sure miss being able to email back and forth and argue politics. He always had quick with sharp responses and delightful in the few times I visited.

Dr. Walker was truly one of a kind and a member of an incredible generation that is quickly slipping away.  He made a positive impact on everyone he touched and we are all much better people for having known him.  The influence he had on so many people cannot be measured but know that he was a true inspiration to all.

Very few have the ability to touch so many people.  Dr. Walker was one of those that made everyone around him feel inspired to do better. Not just in Optometry, but in everyday life. I feel blessed to have known him.

From the onset of my career, Dr. Walker was always there, encouraging and guiding me to be active member of the Optometry profession.  Every FOA meeting I have attended, I appreciated his inspiring and thoughtful invocation. I remember receiving my fellowship certificate at the Academy of Optometry meeting and he said, “Lady you better say, Go Noles!”  He clapped and cheered me on!  Dr. Walker will be missed by all of us not only because of his profound Optometry legacy but because he was a wonderful, caring, christian man. Dr. Clay and Family: Please accept my sincerest condolences. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm saddened by another great loss for Optometry. He was a brother through the Sigma Chi Fraternity. We always gave each other the secret hand shake each time we spent time together. I'm so glad I had a few minutes with him at the FOA convention in Miami. I lost my Dad this year and Ed was like a Dad to all of us. The feeling is empty for me and I'm sure now for the profession. It was a pleasure serving with Ed on the State Board of Optometry. I asked Ed to say a prayer at each of our meetings as board chair. He was gracious, articulate, and sharp all they way to the end. Rest in Peace Brother Ed and thank you for your steadfast dedication to the profession of Optometry and your faith.

For the last three years I have been honored to know and work with Dr. Ed Walker on the Florida Board of Optometry.  On meeting him three years ago, I was immediately impressed with his sharp mind and enclyopedic knowledge about optoemetry, his passion for raising his profession up in the eyes of Floridians and his long experience in doing so.  All of this was tempered, as I came to know him well, by Ed's love of God, family and country.  Ed Walker will be missed by us all, there is no question, but our great loss is a great gain in Heaven where he now resides. I will not be in Tallahassee for his service but I want to send my condolences to his wonderful wife and life companion, Judy, as well as all the children and grandchildren.  Ed Walker was, and still is, a great man.  I am immensely proud to have known him.

Dr. Walker did so much for his profession.  He was a constant presence at every meeting in our state. His commitment to God, his family, his profession and his patients is a great example to all of us.  He will be missed.

Dr. Walker was a giant of a man as an optometrist in North Florida.  He cared for patients equally without regard to their means, and fought tirelessly at the state level for the rights of patients needing optometric care.  I heard many of his stories while caring for him as his internist over the past decade.  He enriched the lives of many, and as his physician I include myself in that group.

Dr. Clay, I am so sorry for your loss. As you said that night, "he had a full life".  I am sure the entire family especially you had a lot to do with that. Stay strong and take care.
