

She was born to Dr. and Mrs. A. H. Myers on October 25, 1924 in Charlotte, NC. Eleanor graduated from Sweet Briar College in VA and moved with her family to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she met and married her husband Walter "Watt" Cole. She was a kindergarten teacher and preschool director until moving to Tallahassee in 1960 with Watt and their two children. In Tallahassee she was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Honorary Life Member of Women of the Church, Lydia Circle, Tallahassee Junior League, Holly Garden Club, Town Club, and P.E.O. Chapter BA Tallahassee.
Eleanor, "GaGa" was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who loved ballroom dancing, golfing and entertaining.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Francis Cole, Jr.; parents, Dr. Alonzo Myers and Eleanor Myers Gillis; daughter, Anne Louise "Lou" Cole Lewis; son, Walter F. Cole III; granddaughter, Karolyn "Karie" Cole Lewis.
Survivors include her brother, Dr. Alonzo "Lonnie" Myers (Dottie); sister-in-law, Katherine "Kat" Cole Rorison; granddaughter, Katherine "Katie" Searcy (Brian); great grandson, Cole Pearson (Leanna); great granddaughter, Karie Jane Pearson; step great grandsons, Henry and Harrison Searcy; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and her beloved "little dog Poo".
A graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Eleanor Cole Benevolent Fund for Faith Presbyterian Preschool in care of Beverly Sims, Faith Presbyterian Church, 2200 North Meridian Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32303.
