Betty graduated from Havana High School in 1956 and married her High School Sweetheart Mark Morgan, also from Havana. Betty took a job with GM in Atlanta to help Mark graduate from Dental School. After Mark's graduation, they moved to Tallahassee where she became a homemaker for their 4 children.
By the time her youngest reached high school age, Betty pursued her dream to graduate from Florida State University. In doing so, she also fulfilled another lifelong dream of authoring a book titled "Uncertain Seasons", published in 1994 by the University of Alabama Press. The book tells the true story of her life growing up in Havana Florida and of her Uncle Howard going through World War II, both occurring at the same time. Betty toured local high schools to speak about the book and it was even given as a history reading project for high school students in Florida and Virginia.
Betty enjoyed playing tennis and was a pianist since her early childhood and throughout her lifetime. She also loved to read and tend to her plants and gardens at home. Betty cooked many a home cooked meal and always had Thanksgiving, Christmas, and all the children's birthdays at her home of 51 years. She also enjoyed Thanksgivings on the Ochlockonee river with her extended family as well as many afternoons fishing there with her husband Mark.
Betty is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, George Mark Morgan from Havana, Florida. She is survived by her two sisters Sara (William Hugh), Mary (Richard) and her brother Richard (Emma) as well as her four children, Amy (Paul), Cass (Tina), Stacy (Mark), Charles (Malinda). She will also be remembered by her four grandchildren Jennifer, Matthew, Luke (Emeline), Gwendolyn and her four great-grandchildren Makayla, Brandon, Edie and Tallulah.
Betty was a loving mother and wife and could always be depended upon by the family, she will be forever in our thoughts and hearts. The family would like to thank Azalea Gardens in Tallahassee for their devoted service and also a special thank you to her personal aide Carla, for all of her excellent care.
