Irene Valeria Hume (nee Brozowski), 88, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019 at Allegro Senior Living. She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on October 8, 1930 and resided in New Jersey for most of life.
Her loving husband, John Edward Hume, preceded her in death on April 21, 2017. They were married for 66 years. Retired from the State of New Jersey's Unemployment Insurance Department, Irene was known for her passion of television game, crime, and sci-fi shows and was a proud, self-proclaimed Trekkie. Irene was happiest when her family was together. Family and love were the most important essences of her life.
Irene is survived by her sons, John Hume of Bloomfield, NJ and Robert Hume of Roswell, GA; daughter, Patricia Jung of Tallahassee; and grandchildren, Michael Jung of Portland, OR and Kerry Jung, of Hopkins, MN.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to those who helped to care for Irene in her declining health - the kind and attentive caregivers at Allegro (especially CNA Sherry), Big Bend Hospice (especially RN Alma), and Right at Home.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 11 at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice at 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.
