James H. Jarriel, age 94, passed away peacefully at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 after an extended illness. He was born in Collins, Georgia on September 30, 1922 and was a resident of Tallahassee, Florida since 1957. James was an Army veteran who landed on the Omaha Beachhead during the Normandy Invasion of World War II. He was later a Mason and a Shriner who loved to spend time on his farm in Greenville, Alabama.
James is survived by his wife of 73 years, Eloise; one son, James “Cash” and wife, Barbara Jarriel; one granddaughter, Stacey Jarriel and husband, Jim Melvin; and two great-granddaughters, Hannah and Rachel Shank.
A visitation will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home at 700 Timberlane Road with graveside services and interment following at Roselawn Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
