
He attended Leon High School and Florida State University. He was a decorated veteran of the World War II aftermath, the Korean War and the Vietnam war. Following his retirement from the military, he worked at the Federal Correction Institute. He was an avid outdoorsman and environmentalist.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, his granddaughter, two brothers, son-in-law, brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and his many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, and two nieces.
The family wants to express their deep appreciation to the Capital Home Health care team that has compassionately cared for him for the last five years. Big Bend Hospice made it possible for him to die at home surrounded by his family. If you wish, donations in thanksgiving for his life can be made to these two agencies or to the Nature Conservancy.
A memorial service will be scheduled for a future date.
