

Born in Ocilla, Georgia, January 24, 1913, he grew up in and around Tallahassee
and in Miami, Florida. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and
was a member of the Free Masons for seventy years. He was also a dedicated
member of the International Printing Pressman and Assistant’s Union of North
America, as well as the Tallahassee Board of Realtors and a member of Faith
Presbyterian Church. Following his retirement he logged over 10,000 hours of
volunteer service at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He was a loving Husband,
Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Great, Great Grandfather.
The oldest surviving member of his extended family, he was preceded in death by
his Beloved wife, Corine, sisters Mattie Yon and Mildred DeYoung, and brother
John. He is survived by his sister Lucille McKoone, and brothers C.W. (Charles)
and R.P. (Tommy) Tomberlin, four children; Sally Beck, Beverly Wells and her
husband Kip, Jim Tomberlin and his wife Sandy, and Andy Tomberlin, 5
grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren.
He was blessed with a long and wonderful life. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests that donations be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd.
Tallahassee, FL 32308. The family will receive guests at 4:00 pm following the
services. We all love you Papa.
Family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road . Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2010 at Faith Presbyterian Church. Burial
will be private in Tallahassee Memory Gardens.
