

Joan was raised in Fall River, Mass. and graduated from Durfee High School. In 1965, she graduated from Suffolk University in Boston with a major in elementary education. She later married Harvey F. Levine in Newton, Mass. in 1969, and they were wed for 43 years. The family moved to Florida in 1972. She lived variously in Palm Beach Gardens, Davie, and Tallahassee.
She played the organ and enjoyed teaching music. She loved calling friends and family, spending time with her pets, doing crosswords, having lunch with her Wednesday ladies’ group, and cruising the Caribbean and Central America.
Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie K. Levine-Berggren; her son-in-law, Jason Berggren; her two grandchildren, Joshua Berggren and Eva Berggren; two special nieces, Barbara Dean and Marie Lipps; three grandnieces (Lisa, Lori, and Leigh Anne) and their children; and a grandnephew (Dan) and his children.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman Stuart Seglin and Bertha Rose (Landon) Seglin; husband, Harvey F. Levine; and brothers, Robert Seglin and Lewis Seglin.
To commemorate her life, a ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 21 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road in Tallahassee. The Rev. Irma Daleen will officiate and the Rev. Lillie Anderson will also speak.
