

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. EDT Wednesday, March 30, at Forest Heights Baptist Church, with burial at Woodville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Culley's Meadow Wood Funeral Home-Riggins Road Chapel (850-877-8191).
Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Heights Baptist Church.
Joe was born in Woodville and was a life-long resident of Tallahassee. He attended Florida State University. He was in the Army and served in Japan. He retired from the State of Florida, where he worked for the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of General Services, for 35 years of service. Joe was a member of the Tallahassee Lions Club and the Moose Lodge. His church membership was at Forest Heights Baptist Church where he did the Sunday School records for many years.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 58 years, Mary Watson Wright, his parents, Wiley Joe and Ruth Lewis Wright, a step-sister, Miriam Davis and a step-brother, Leroy Williamson.
Survivors include one son, Joey Wright of Tallahassee; two daughters, Susan Christie (and husband Kris) of Crawfordville and Mary Ellen Anderson (and husband Rex) of Monticello; he is also survived by his "brothers" and their wives Donald and Carol Watson of Fairhope, Alabama, Billy and Carolynn Watson of Woodville, Jerry Wayne and Carol Watson of Woodville, Maurice and Mary Watson of Woodville and Thomas Watson of Woodville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe had a long retirement and enjoyed traveling, deer hunting, fishing and going to Cades Cove,
Tennessee.
The family would like to thank his caregiver of over a year, Bertha Hall, for all she did to take care of Daddy for us. We are eternally grateful.
