A memorial service is scheduled for November 12, 2016 at his childhood residence in Quincy, FL.
John Akins lived in Havana, FL and worked at Peek Traffic as a Systems Designer. March 1997 he moved to San Diego, California after accepting a Support Engineer position with Epicor Software. He enjoyed competition shooting, the outdoors, HAM radio, and was an avid reader.
John Akins is survived by his children Chris Akins and Ashley Akins (Patricia Akins); sisters, Connie Akins, Donna Hosey, Cindy Palm (Clay Palm), and Ann Glover (Joe Glover); grandchildren, Erika Akins, Nancy Akins, Alexander Akins, and Gracie Akins.
John Akins is preceded in death by his parents John T. Akins and Mildred Akins; sister, Sheryl Lynn Akins; niece, Suzanne Glover.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Diabetes Research Institute Foundation.
