September 19, 1951 – May 9, 2025
Born in Pulaski, Tennessee, Frank was the third child and eldest son of John Frank Moore Jr. (deceased) and Dell Murphy Moore (deceased).
He attended Sealy Elementary, Cobb Junior High, and graduated from Leon High School in 1969. He pursued higher education at the University of Florida, the London School of Economics, and Florida State University, where he earned a degree in Accounting. He began his career with Touché Ross, one of the “Big Eight” accounting firms, and started his family during this time.
After four years, Frank transitioned into the private sector, working across various industries and relocating multiple times as a financial professional. Throughout his career, he brought professionalism, humor, and meticulous care to every role he held—whether as an accountant, licensed home builder, computer network engineer, Florida real estate agent and broker, or financial adviser—until his retirement in 2019.
In 1990, he and his family returned to Tallahassee, where he coached his son John in various sports and aimed to be an ever-present force of nature for his daughters, Rachael and Charlsie. Elton John, Tom Petty, and the greats were a natural part of the Moore household - accompanied by a giant side of bacon, eggs, and grits. When the music stopped, Frank enjoyed watching sports, fishing, golf, and a good old fashioned “look-at-that.” On the lowered tailgate of his pickup truck, he watched meteor showers with his children just as carefully as he loaded and unloaded the tools of his many crafts. He cheered for Charlsie and John during family golf adventures.
Frank didn’t mince words, and his dry wit was both hilarious and insightful—already greatly missed by those who knew him.
John Frank Moore III passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2025, surrounded by his children and siblings, with love, mischief, and banter—the way he wanted. He is survived by his three children: Rachael Moore, Charlsie Moore, and John Frank Moore IV (Kathy Lewis, their beloved mother). He is also survived by his five siblings: Lennon Moore, Loula Fuller (Dan Myers), Sug Moore Neilson (Rick Christian), Bill Moore (Patty Rich), Jack Moore (Jonell), and his uncle Paul Murphy (Maryann), who lived with the Moore family in their early years. Frank was the proud uncle of 11, great-uncle of 19, and great-great-uncle of 4, etc….
His final resting place will be alongside his parents, Frank and Dell Moore, at Roselawn Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Big Bend Hospice and the many relatives who lovingly supported Frank in his final days.
He was deeply loved by many—until we meet again in the next life,
See ya, Frank. We love you!
