Junie Lee Stover Jenkinson, a resident of Thomasville, Georgia, went to join her heavenly family on Friday, September 27, 2019 . She was born in Quinnimont, West Virginia to the late Josie and Dorsey Stover December 17, 1928. Junie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Day Jenkinson, Sr. and sister, Marguerite Johnson.
Following graduation from Hinton High School in 1946, Junie attended Concord College. She was employed by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers where she met her future husband. They were married on August 28, 1948 and celebrated fifty-five years of marriage. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, was an active member of the Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and enjoyed a partnership with Richard in their successful Amway business. She was an avid reader and an accomplished cook. A resident of St. Albans, West Virginia, Junie later relocated with her family to Schaumberg, Illinois, where she worked for United Airlines. They retired to Fort Myers, Florida and upon Richard’s demise in 2003, she moved to Deltona, Florida. Junie was a hospital volunteer there until moving to Thomasville in 2016.
Junie is survived by her sisters, Pauline Smith of Hinton, WV and Edna Ott of San Jose, CA; one sister-in-law, Jo Ann Elmore of Hinton, WV; her son Richard, Jr. and wife Pamela of Bonita Springs, FL; her son Don of Knoxville, TN; her daughter, Cheryl and husband, Jon Glass of Thomasville, GA. She is survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family is thankful for the loving caregiver who enriched her life daily Nancy Hayes.
The First United Methodist Church Thomasville, GA will hold a memorial service at 10:00 am October 1, 2019 in celebration of Junie’s life.
