Mary Florence Shibley Trainor, 81, a career homemaker, now is living in peace with her ancestors. She left this world on Monday, Jan. 3 at 10:45 p.m. surrounded by her family and friends, after a short stay at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee.
She was born on May 23, 1929 in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., to the late David Josiah Shibley and Lettie Jane Baker. Mrs. Trainor grew up within earshot of the historic Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and spent many years in Lake George, N.Y. She relocated to Daytona Beach in 1950 and met her husband Kenneth Charles Trainor, who passed away on Dec. 12, 2007 in Tallahassee. They were married 54 years. They moved to Tallahassee in 2001 to be near family.
Mary and Kenneth now are together once again, celebrating a glorious and amazing reunion in Heaven. They will always be with their family in love and spirit, and the family will always carry a piece of them in their heart. The hurt is temporary, but the love remains forever.
She enjoyed gardening, collecting pottery and blue-and-white china. She took even greater enjoyment in never losing a game of television Jeopardy to any of her children. She rarely met a crossword puzzle she couldn’t conquer and also played a “mean” game of Scrabble. She loved vacations to Franklin, N.C. and trips to her childhood home, Lake George, N.Y.
Mary lives on in the memory of a brother, John Edward Shibley, Maui, Hawaii; sons Mark A. Trainor, Tallahassee, and Joel and Patty Trainor, Evans, Ga; a daughter, Salle and Roger Kreisel, Tallahassee; three grandchildren: Mark A. Trainor Jr., Tallahassee; Jonathan Michael Trainor, Augusta, Ga; and Stephanie Trainor Gamlin, Evans, Ga; and five great-grandchildren: Mark (Tre’) A. Trainor III, Tallahassee; Kylie, Kayla and Tyler Trainor, Danville, Va; and Logan and Jacob Gamlin, Evans, Ga.
The family sends their thanks to the medical teams at Big Bend Hospice, Capital Regional Medical Center, Center Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center, Health South Rehabilitation Hospital for their care of Mary during the past two months.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be sent to the Big Bend Hospice 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL, 32308.
Arrangements are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Tallahassee, FL.
