

Myra Simmons, 88, a retired schoolteacher/librarian and a resident of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away at the age of 88 at Azalea Gardens on February 4, 2026, in Tallahassee after a short illness. Myra was born in Gaffney, SC to William Robbins and Corinne Blanton Robbins on November 15, 1937.
Myra came to faith as a young woman and was an enthusiastic member of Engage Church TLH in Tallahassee. Myra loved her family and loved dancing, gospel music, Village Pizza, and all things Florida State sports! Myra attended Winthrop College, where she graduated with a degree in elementary education. For 29 years, Myra taught first grade and was later a librarian, primarily in the Jackson, TN City School District.
Myra was preceded in death by her father and mother, her stepfather, Winfred B. Moore and her husband, James G. Simmons of Jackson, TN. Myra is survived by her brother, Bo Moore (Jan) and her children, David DuBose (Jennifer), Diane Casey (Steve); her step/bonus daughter, Lynn Woodside (Ed); her grandchildren, Cole DuBose (Hannah), Durim Bardhi, Carsen DuBose, Corinne DuBose, Grace Woodside Johnson (Colman) and Charles Woodside; and her great-grandchildren, Lucia Hardy, Eva DuBose, Emery Claire Woodside; and Titus, the dog. Myra was beloved by her family, and they will all miss her dearly.
Funeral Services will be at 2PM on March 1, 2026, at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home with interment following at Culley’s Cemetery.
