

Nina Jane Petersen, 94, of Tallahassee, died Sunday, June 12th at Broadview Senior Living. She lived a long and active life. She married an Air Force man and saw the world with him. They retired to Tallahassee in 1967. They traveled every summer for adventures like hiking the Appalachian Trail, rafting through the Grand Canyon, and driving to Alaska to camp and tour, and on the way they visited their friends scattered throughout the States. Nina was a bridge lover and enjoyed volunteering. She delivered Meal on Wheels for over 20 years, enjoyed serving with the TMH Auxiliary team, and was so active in the Girl Scouts that they honored her with a life-time membership award. She was always on the go, chairing one committee after another, often for the Ladies Lions, Retired Military Wives and FSU Faculty Wives. She will be missed terribly.
She is predeceased by her husband, Bob Petersen and her daughter Judy Petersen. She leaves behind two daughters, Mary Ann Williams of Seneca, Missouri and Barbara Ann Petersen of Tallahassee, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be on Saturday July 9th at 1:30 PM in the MeadowWood Room at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road. At the gathering we will also celebrate the life of her daughter, Judy Petersen, who passed away a year ago. Nina emphasized repeatedly that she did not want flowers, so please honor her favorite organizations the Lions Club and Girl Scouts. Judy’s favorite organization was Alcoholics Anonymous. Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home is honored to serve the Petersen family.
