Otis William Smith Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Brooke Smith, of Tallahassee; his sister, Rebecca Smith Turner, of Demopolis, AL; his sister in-law, Patricia DeLoach Godwin and brother in-law Larry Wayne Godwin of Pensacola; his nieces; Rachel Turner Riley of McCalla, AL, Laura Godwin Lykins (John), Sarah Grace Lykins, Mary Catherine Lykins, and Jenny Caroline Lykins of Pensacola, FL, his nephew Ryan Riley (McCalla, AL); his grand dog Bruiser Smith; and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucy DeLoach Smith, of Tallahassee; his parents, Otis William Smith and Vivian Green Baker, of Demopolis, AL; his in-laws Walter Glenn DeLoach and Grace Orene Reeves, of Tallahassee; and his nephew, Ian Gray Turner, of Birmingham, AL.

Otis was born on February 6th, 1948 in Aberdeen, Mississippi, to parents Otis William Smith and Vivian Green Baker. He graduated from Auburn University in 1971 with a degree in accounting. In 1971, he moved to Tallahassee and accepted a position as a Financial Accountant at the State of Florida where he worked for more than 50 years.

He was a great family man, a loving husband and father. He married Lucy DeLoach in 1980 and the couple had one child together.

Otis was a kind and loving man who was a dedicated father, husband, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his grand dogs, traveling, and was an avid reader.

A visitation for Otis will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 15, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312. A burial following the service will occur, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312.
