Patricia McPherson Maybin

Patricia McPherson Maybin, 71, of Tallahassee FL passed away peacefully on January 4, 2015 at the Big Bend Hospice Margaret Dozier House. Her husband of 45 years, Joseph Maybin, and her son, Robert Maybin, were by her side.Patricia was born on April 3, 1943, to Mary Virginia Madden and Robert Emorys McPherson in Birmingham, AL, who resided in the East Lake area of Birmingham. She attended Curry Elementary, and graduated from Woodlawn High in 1961. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She was employed at Hayes International in Birmingham, where she met her future husband Joseph F. Maybin.They were married at St. Barnabas Catholic Church on January 3rd, 1970, and resided in Center Point, AL, where she gave birth to her two children, Robert Joseph Maybin in 1971 and Lea Anne Maybin in 1973. The family moved to Tallahassee, FL in 1975, where Patricia dedicated herself full-time to caring for family and raising her children.In 1989 she returned to the workplace, and in 1994 she began a 20-year career at Florida State University, from which she retired in 2014. She will be always remembered for her endless compassion, loving care for others, and tireless dedication to her family. Patricia is survived by her husband Joseph, 77, of Tallahassee; her son Robert, 43, of Cupertino, CA; her daughter Lea Anne, 41, of Tallahassee; and her brother John R. McPherson, 68, of Birmingham, AL.A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Roselawn Cemetery, 804 Piedmont Dr, Tallahassee, FL, at 10 o'clock in the morning. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Big Bend Hospice.
