Paul was born September 10, 1958, in Providence, Rhode Island, the second of three children of Dr. Jacobo Jose Fijman (dec.) and Alison Fijman. Paul had a love of family, gardening, jazz, and motorcycles. Some of his most cherished childhood memories were of long golden summers at his family’s cottage on Cape Cod. Paul had a brilliant mind, a wide breadth of knowledge, and a keen wit. He and his beloved wife Michele (dec.) moved to Tallahassee from Cape Coral Florida where Paul attended law school at Florida State University and later pursued his law career with Florida’s Department of Workers’ Compensation.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife Michele who also fought her own long battle with cancer. He is survived by his son, Zachary Fijman, of Tallahassee Florida, his mother Alison H. Fijman, of Fort Myers, Florida, his sister Rosanne Powers (husband Tom Powers) of Cape Coral, Florida and his brother Mark Fijman (wife Susan Fijman) of New Orleans, Louisiana. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, including his nieces and nephews, Emily Preston of Tampa, Florida, Jacob Fijman (wife Nicole Fijman) of Memphis, Tennessee, Adam Preston of Albany, New York, Katherine Fijman of Greenville, South Carolina, Mary Powers of Orlando, Florida, Matt Cooper (wife Amy Cooper) of Ohio, and Andy Cooper of Ohio.
There will be a memorial celebration of Paul's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Leon County Humane Society and the American Cancer Society.
