Philip is survived by his wife, Sherry Anne Spiers, and his son, Alexander Philip Spratt, both of Tallahassee, Florida; brother Matthew Spratt and niece Rachel Spratt Cary, brother Andrew Spratt, sister-in-law Sharon Spratt, and nieces Rosie, Charli and Amy Spratt, all of England, and niece Joanna Spratt Brunel of France; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John B. Spiers, III, and Valerie Paul of Fort Pierce, Florida; niece Lindsay Spiers of Marathon, Florida; sister-in-law Vikki Spiers Catellacci, niece Alima Catellacci, and great nephew Fernando Vargas Catellacci, all of Paauilo, Hawaii; sister-in-law Joanne Spiers Moche of Dublin, Virginia; and his friends.
Philip was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and grew up primarily in Walton on the Naze, England. His love of England never diminished. In his early 20s he moved to Tallahassee, where he met and married his wife Sherry and where they raised their son and shared their 44 years together.
Philip was known for his English wit and humor and his intellectual curiosity. He had a passion for listening to and playing classical and flamenco guitar. He played beautifully. His other many interests included drawing, WWII history, woodworking, photography, everything related to nature, playing pool, and, most recently, watching and feeding the raccoons and possums that visited his home at night and spending time with his dog Abby. His greatest joy was his son Alex, who filled his father with pride and gave him a million laughs.
A memorial gathering for Philip will be held at Culley’s Meadowood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Business casual attire. Refreshments will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to any animal rescue organization or facility.
