

Dr. Rajendra Kumar Arora of Tallahassee, FL, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born in New Delhi and did his schooling in India. He pursued his passion for mathematics and physics, culminating his formal education with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of St. Andrews, Dundee, Scotland.
After graduation, he continued to stay in academia and earned numerous accolades. One of his proudest achievements was receiving the Khosla Research Award at Roorkee University, where he also became one of the youngest professors. His teaching career took him to IIT-Delhi, the University of Clemson, and finally to FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, where he served on the faculty for almost 35 years. He had a deep love for teaching and even had a class scheduled on Monday, January 8th.
Dr. Arora was a Life Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, a Life Senior Member of the IEEE, a member of the ASEE and SPIE, and a past Chairman of the IEEE Delhi Section and had a great passion for reading and could recite lines from Shakespeare and poems from Keats, always amusing his friends and family members. He loved exploring different religions and philosophies.
Dr. Arora is survived by his spouse, Krishna Arora, to whom he was married for over 61 years, two sons, Ashwin & Neil, and two grandsons, Arjun & Jay.
Funeral and cremation arrangements will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, 1/11/2024, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home.
