
A first generation American, Dick was the son of the late Alfred and Agnes Terranova. He was born in Three Rivers, Massachusetts on April 24, 1934, and moved with his family to Jacksonville, Florida, where he worked in his parents’ restaurant. He began working at Acousti Engineering Company sweeping floors in the warehouse at the age of fifteen.
In high school he met his great love, Quinnell. After completing high school he joined the Marines, and on weekend leave, he and his love were married by the Justice of the Peace in Georgia. With Quinn he raised four children: Rick, Sherry, Mitch, and Mike, spending weekends swimming and skiing at White Sand Lake in Keystone Heights, Florida.
Dick and Quinn moved to Tallahassee in 1975 to manage Acousti’s contract on the Florida Capitol building. He became manager of the Tallahassee branch, where he remained until his retirement. He retired as the Senior Vice President of Acousti Engineering and its 19 branches in 2020, at the age of 86.
Dick was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Crawfordville, Florida, and enjoyed hunting and water sports as an excuse to spend time with family and friends. He was also a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Agnes; his brothers, Bob and Terry; his wife, Quinnell; and his son, Mitch.
Dick is survived by his children, Rick, Sherry, and Mike; four nieces; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 12pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3609 Coastal Highway, Crawfordville, Florida 32327 with funeral services beginning at 1pm. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Dick's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
