A Jefferson County Native, he was born February 9, 1936 to Robert Lee Fountain, Jr. and Dollie Reed Fountain and was married to Jeanette Levy Fountain.
Bob was gifted with a highly-prized singing voice and a joke for every occasion. Family and friends knew him as “a Big Man with a Big Heart.”
To carry on the family tradition, Bob joined the Scottish Mason and he reached the level of a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a charter member of Marsuq Shrine in Tallahassee and a member of Chapter No. 119, Order of the Eastern Star.
His son, Robert Leon Fountain, also fulfilled this legacy as a member of Jackson Lodge #1 of Tallahassee.
He was an Eagle Scout which brought him great pride. It gave Bob a sense of Satisfaction when his grandson, Robert Christopher Fountain joined his Papa in this accomplishment.
Life provided many opportunities for him. He earned degrees from FSU and UCLA. He was a successful Real Estate Broker with his own ERA office in Lakeland, Florida; received awards as a State General Contractor, including Builder of the year for three years. Bob was manager of Tammy Wynette and George Jones’ “Old Plantation Music Park” in Lakeland and owned and operated his own mortgage commercial brokerage office and real estate office. He also was a licensed commercial building inspector.
As a proud alumnus of FSU, the “Noles” were a top priority. He enjoyed the boosters, all the sports and attended in town and out-of-town games. He gave his full support and in return, received constant enjoyment. He also enjoyed membership in professional and social organizations including Kappa Alpha Fraternity as long as his health would allow.
One of the highlights of his Polk County building days was the “Love house” he built in 1980 for Jerry Lewis’ Kids with all proceeds of the sale contributed to MDA. Jerry Lewis presented a magnificent award to Bob and Jeanette in Las Vegas.
Bob loved to travel throughout the United States and Canada and enjoyed trips to World Fairs. He also enjoyed camping in his motor home.
He cherished his relatives and loyal friends. His church, First Baptist Church of Monticello, was his “rock”.
Preceding Bob in death were his parents.
Those he leaves behind to treasure his memory and love are his high school sweet heart, his wife, Jeanette Levy Fountain; their children, Robert Leon Fountain (Mel) of Colorado Springs, CO., Tom McGlamory (Beth) of Mulberry, FL, Jann McGlamory Moran (JR) of Spring, TX and Joy Levy Parton of Knoxville, TN; two brothers; Terry Fountain (Bo) and Jack Warren Fountain (Gloria); grandchildren, Robert Christopher “RC” Fountain and Rebecca Ann Fountain Smart (Brian) both of Colorado Springs, CO, Josh Moran (Brandy) and Liz Moran Craig (Jonathan) both of Spring, TX, Drew McGlamory of Atlanta, GA and Jessie Parton of Knoxville, TN; great-grandchildren; Jasper Smart of Colorado Springs, CO. and Charlotte and Jackson Craig both of Spring, TX.; one nephew, two nieces and many cousins and close friends.
A celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Saturday July 30, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Monticello, 325 W. Washington Street, Monticello, FL with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. Bob will be interred in the family plot at Oakland Cemetery in Tallahassee during a private ceremony.
