Roy Leon (Lee) Thompson, III, a fourth-generation Tallahassee native died on June 24, 2025. Lee was a man of generous heart and a caring nature. A life-long resident of Tallahassee, Lee attended the Florida State University School and graduated from the then-Lively Technical Institute where he learned the art of construction. Lee became a premier roofer in and around Tallahassee and served his community with pride and confidence.
His curiosity began as a young boy when he would go to the Little Folks Toy Store and find toys to examine, deconstruct, and re-build. Continuously curious, and an admirer of fine craftsmanship, throughout his life Lee enjoyed making, repairing, and tinkering with most any gadget with a penchant for motorcycles and other vehicles.
Proud of his heritage, Lee enjoyed history, movies and exploring the local area and he would regale you with stories of Tallahassee. He knew all the back roads and every drive included his dog, be it Prince, Ray Ray, or Maddie, riding shot-gun with their faces in the wind. There were frequent walks around Lake Ella where he and Ray Ray visited the local vendors and fed the ducks. If you were a dog, you would want Lee as your person!
Lee was preceded in death by his father Roy L. Thompson, Jr., his maternal grandmother Augusta DeMilly Turnley, his nephew Wyatt Lambeth, and his niece Amy Workman. He is survived by his caring mother, Patricia T Roberts, and sisters Sara Winn Giacobbe, Julie Feeney, and Marian Lambeth.
We have said goodbye to the body that defied him, but Lee will always remain in our hearts and he will always be a son, brother, uncle, and a darn good friend.
A graveside service will be held at the Old City Cemetery on Saturday, July 12th at 10:30 am.
