An electronics engineer, he was employed with the FSU Mag Lab. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, Russell served as a Ranger in the Special Forces. Russell was a life member of the NRA. He was a Ham Radio Operator and enjoyed cars, but his favorite hobby was inventing things.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Joan Stanton Wood; son, Marshall Wood (wife Crystal); brother, Keith Wood; sister, Merry Beth Wills and; grandchildren, Lilly and Rylan Wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jane and George Wood; his brother, Geo Wood; and two nephews, Eric and Frederick.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday in the chapel of Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road with interment to follow in MeadowWood Memorial Park.
