Ruth was born on 5/6/1932 to Lester A. Branning and Nellie D. Branning in Marianna Fl. and moved with her parents to Tallahassee at the age of fifteen where she attended Leon High School as an honor student. She was also a member of the band playing the French Horn.
Shortly after graduating high school and working in the Office of the Fl Secretary of State Ruth met James "Guerry" Petermann as he was making a sales call for IBM. As most good salesmen at the time knew, you spent your time selling to the admin assistants who would be using their equipment. He must have been pretty good as he not only closed the sale but convinced her to marry him on 3/2/1951 and they spent 56 years together enjoying homes in Tallahassee, then Lake Talquin and their cherished Beach House on Alligator Point.
Ruth spent many summers at Alligator Point entertaining her children then grandchildren as Guerry commuted to work until his retirement. Christmas was also very special for her grandchildren who got to spend time with their "Granny" or "Mama Ruth" baking cookies and making ornaments.
Ruth Petermann was truly a beautiful person, and we will miss her.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Guerry Petermann and her son Lester G Petermann.
She is survived by her daughters Patricia P. Curtin (Terry) of Marianna, Virginia
"Ginger" P. McCullion (Charlie) of Tallahassee, her brother M.A. "Red" Branning
(Gretchen) of Waynesboro N.C., 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Services will be held at a later date but Ruth's wishes were that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Big Bend Hospice or a charity of your choice.
