Born on January 27, 1928, in “Forks of the Creek”, Jackson County, Florida. Sue always proudly claimed “Native Floridian” citizenship, country raised heritage and family roots. She never met a stranger with her laugh and easy way to make friends. When her parents passed at an early age, Sue lived with her Aunt Sallie and then moved to Cottonton, Alabama with her sister Doris. She was crowned Miss Eufaula, met and married a Fort Benning Army Officer and led a life of global adventures.
Sue is preceded in death by an infant daughter and her treasured son Mark. She is survived by two daughters, Molly McLain and Mazey Strauss, along with loved grandchildren, SallyBay Stewart (Graham), Theo Strauss (Melissa), Morgan Harrison (Lee) and Justin McLain (Kim). Sue cherished her nieces and nephews, particularly the help of Martha Sheryl Pelham and sister-in-law Frances Hart. She was especially proud to be great grandmother to Fairlie, Baylee, Ava, Felicity, Pepper Jo, Gracelyn and Bubba.
Sue’s past several years at Cherry Laurel enriched her mind and body. The friendships and activities kept her young at heart and independent. Remember Sue with a good cup of coffee, honest conversation, and a laugh.
