

Sherrill Arlen Dansby, son of the late John Bishop and Clyde Mae Dansby, embraced by heaven, peace and love died peacefully at home on Sunday, August 26, 2012.
He was born in Ozark, Dale County, Alabama, on July 29, 1931; graduated from Dale County High School, Ozark, Alabama, and attended Troy State College, University of Alabama and University of Miami; served in the United States Army (Korean Conflict) and was a retired farmer and draftsman; was a member of The Capital Tiger Bay Club, Economics Club of Florida, Kiwanis Club of Tallahassee, Tallahassee Symphony Society, Friends of Maclay Gardens, Tallahassee Museum of History and Natural Science, Life Member of Tallahassee Elks Lodge, LeMoyne Art Foundation, Committee of Ninety-nine of Tallahassee/Leon County, Tallahassee Antique Car Club, Ducks Unlimited, Basin Advisory Committee for Northeast District of Florida, FSU Golden Chief, and a member of St. Peter's Anglican Church. Special interests were family genealogy, traveling and photography.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Grace, who was a constant companion and a source of great comfort as his health failed; son, Stewart Mott Dansby, Birmingham; daughter, Suzanne Dansby Bollman, Atlanta; sister, June Emmert (Lou), Flint, Michigan; brothers, Larry Dansby, Greenville, Florida, Bishop Dansby (Laura), Keezletown, Virginia; grandsons, Stewart Mott Dansby, Jr., New York City, William Dansby Phelps, Atlanta; granddaughters, Susan Wheeler Dansby, Istanbul, Turkey, Elizabeth Mott Phelps, Atlanta; step-son, Marc A. Vann (Carmen) Tallahassee; step-daughters, Gail Quinn (Bob), Quincy, Terry Shumann (Noel), Dillard, Georgia; step-grandsons, Matthew Shumann (Aida), Stockbridge, Georgia, Bobby Quinn, New Orleans; step-granddaughters, Angie Willis, Tallahassee, Nicki Tyus (James), Macon, Georgia, Noelle Porter (Nathan), Mableton, Georgia; nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Don Dansby, Perry, Florida.
Services will be held, Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 2:00 P.M., St. Peter's Anglican Church, 901 Thomasville Road with entombment at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park on Timberlane Road. All are welcome for a Celebration of Life, following at the Dansby home, 4534 Highgrove Place, Tallahassee, Florida.
Arrangements are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Florida.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Building Fund, Big Bend Hospice, or the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Foundation.
