Somabhai worked in a cotton factory in Navsari, Gujarat then immigrated to the United Kingdom and worked at a factory as a machinist. He then returned to India and met his bride, Laxmiben and returned to the United Kingdom. They had two children, Nayan and Bharat. In 1983 Somabhai and Laxmiben decided to immigrate to the United States, "The Land of Opportunity," to search for the “American Dream." Somabhai and Laxmiben purchased a motel in Moultrie and built a very successful business for 35 years. They both were able to retire in 2006. Somabhai and Laxmiben resided in Moultrie after.
Somabhai loved his family and he loved to entertain. He always had a big smile on his face and absolutely loved meeting new people and enjoyed making them laugh. Somabhai enjoyed playing and watching cricket.
He is survied by his wife, Laxmiben S. Patel; two sons, Nayan and his wife Lori, and Bharat; and five grandchildren, Gavin, Kelsey, Dylan, Tyler and Jayden. He is also survived by his two brothers, Nanubhai and wife Banuben Patel, and Dirubhai and wife Indumati Patel.
A memorial service was held on Friday, July 31st at Lifespring Church.
