

Bill lived a life defined by service, dedication, and love for his family. He proudly served his country for nearly four decades—first spending three years in the United States Marine Corps before continuing his distinguished career with the United States Navy for 35 years. Through hard work, leadership, and commitment, he rose to the rank of Master Chief before retiring from active duty. His years of service reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism.
Beyond his military career, Bill had a passion for the open road and especially loved riding his Gold Wing motorcycle. He also valued fellowship and service in his community as a Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6387 and a proud member of the Freemasonry.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Maybell P. Browne, and his parents, William and Valerie Roe Browne.
He is survived by his sister, Peggy (Bob) Johnston; his children, David (Lori) Browne, Lisa (Mark) Bess, and Mike Browne; his grandchildren, Jenniffer (Daryle) Persson, Rachel (Troy) Rodriguez, and John (Kylee) Bess; his great grandchildren, Chase Bess, Aiyanna James, Victoria Mayes, Mikylah James, Julianna Bess; and bonus great-niece, Liana Myers, along with extended family and friends who will remember him with love and respect.
Bill will be remembered as a devoted father, proud grandfather, loyal brother, and a man who served his country honorably. His legacy of strength, service, and love for family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will remain in the hearts of those he loved and served throughout his long and meaningful life.
Arrangements are through Culley’s Meadowwood Funeral Home, March 16, 2026. Viewing at 12:00pm, Service at 12:30pm and Interment at Tallahassee National Cemetery at 2:00pm.
