

William A. “Alex” Davis, Jr., 76 a native of Tallahassee, died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at his home in Sunrise, FL. Alex was born February 18, 1938 in Tallahassee to William and Bernice (Shepherd) Davis, Sr. Alex is a graduate of Leon High School, Class of ’56 and was a member of the Marching Red Coats Band where he played the coronet. Alex retired from FP&L with over 29 years of employment. He continued his career as a consultant for FP&L and most recently was employed with ARGO American, Sunrise, FL. Alex was united in marriage on July 15, 1966 to his wife, Mirabel who resides in Tallahassee. He is also survived by his son, William “Billy” (Laurie) Davis, III of Tallahassee; his daughters, Cheryl D. (John) Kross of Defuniak Springs, FL and Ruth (Kenny) Duhart of Tallahassee; his brother, Kenneth (Pat) Shephard of Tallahassee; his four grandchildren, Bethany, Robert, Nathan and Caleb and his great-grandson, Jonathan. Friends will be received Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the Culley’s Meadowwood Funeral Home, Riggins Road Chapel where funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday. Interment will take place that day in Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Alex’s honor to St. Jude Chidrens Hospital.
