He is predeceased in death by his parents, his three sisters; Jackie Sharkey, Hilda Goldman, Margaret Fisher, and two brothers; Jack and James "Jimmy?' Grubbs. Bill attended Leon High School where he was a member of the football and track teams. He served two years in the United States Army and was a graduate from Chipola Junior College. He was employed by the City of Tallahassee and later joined Talquin Electric Cooperative where he retired as a Senior Manager after 42 years.
Bill was a devoted board member of the Florida Rural Water Association for 42 years serving as past president and secretary-treasurer. Bill enjoyed multiple outdoor sports. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, boatsman, water and snow skier. A lifelong Florida State University booster, he attended most football games. He valued spending time with his family and friends. Some of his happiest times were when the family was gathered together. Bill was the ultimate storyteller. He could spin a tale that entertained all and left listeners teary-eyed with laughter. Bill loved all God's creations; the out- of-doors, animals and especially his pets.
A celebration of life will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 211 North Monroe Street at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, with a reception immediately following in Alfriend Hall.
