Antoine Jean Also known as Tony Montana, was born on May 18th, 1947, in Jacmel, Haiti. He was the first male born child to his father Richelieu and mother Cosette Jean, followed by sister Rosemond Jean and brother Jean Eddy. Antoine was one of the most caring person I’ve ever known, and I know many of you would agree. He was very charismatic and love woman as you may see, (He had seven of us by seven different woman).
He was an imposing figure of a man, a medium height, fair skinned, handsome character whose reassuring presence we all felt during difficult times. Although our father did not attend college, he did obtain his high school diploma and later worked as a taxi driver to support his lavish style. During his journey in Haiti, Antoine bore his first daughter Bertha Jean, then couple of years later his first and only son Paul Edward Jean was born, soon after, the other siblings were followed whom are Ini Veillard, Tania Jean, Sophia Jean, Sergina Jean and then finally his favorite daughter Daphnee Jean. After struggling to make ends meet for his families, Antoine later migrated to the united stated for a better life, leaving beyond some of his children in which he later reunited with them.
Antoine was married to several women, unfortunately it did not work out. So, he decided to live the bachelor life. He was a hard-working fellow, he worked as a paratransit driver for twenty-five years. He was always there to serve when in needs or crack a joke with colleague. Surprisingly, he had a good sense of humor. It’s difficult to imagine him not being around and I’m not sure how we will all cope. The twenty-nine grandchildren and the two great-grandchildren will miss him dearly. It’s strange to think that I can’t just give him a call just to say “Koman ou ye la Tony Montana”.
The world is a sadder place without our dad in our lives. But Antoine somehow touched each one of us and has left us with memories we will cherish forever. As we gather here today to remember and commemorate his life, let bid him farewell as we mourn the loss of a lively, dignified soul.
A soul that brought joy and fulfilment to many, and whose legacy will live on forever.
Thank you!
