

Donald Bruce Hinds, age 90, of Tamarac, Florida, passed away on Monday August 8, 2022. Donald was born on February 19, 1932 in Above Rocks, a rural community in St. Catherine, Jamaica. A Mechanical Engineer by profession, Danny, as he was affectionately called, worked in the bauxite, sugar and petroleum industries in Jamaica in various management capacities before he retired in the late 1990s. Prior to and during his retirement, he divided his time between the U.S. and Jamaica before settling fully in Tamarac, Florida in 2016.
Donald enjoyed gardening, golf and cricket back home in Jamaica. He also made it a priority to spend quality time with his grandchildren when he got the chance and would always give them a signature affectionate pinch to the ear when they visited. He was also an active member of the Freemason (Lodge) in Jamaica for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Hinds; his children Karen, Janice, Debra, Janiene, Nicholas, Althea, Donovan, and Kevin; grandchildren Ryan, Skylar, Dominic, Aaliyah-Maje, Arianna, and Zori-Nicole; great-grandson Alexander; brother of Seymour Hinds and the late Lunville Creary, Joslyn Errar, Roy McKay, Ralph Hylton, William Hinds. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Donald will be held Monday, September 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Bailey Memorial, 6701 West Commercial Blvd., Tamarac, FL 33319.
The Repast will be held at Valencia’s Caribbean Fusion, located at 5801 Margate Blvd, Margate, FL 33063 (2:00 PM), immediately following the memorial service.
