

Pett, Douglas Edward passed away peacefully on February 26, at the age of 80. Born in Detroit, Michigan, moved to Florida in 1964. Was an insurance claims adjuster till retirement. He worked for the Pompano Beach Recreation Dept. in their youth sports programs. His love of sports was a dominant force as he was the announcer and the official scorer for the Pompano Beach Cubs and Texas Rangers. He worked in these capacities for 18 years with the New York Yankees spring training and Ft. Laud. Yankees Class A teams. Was an official scorer for 15 years with the Marlins, scoring Al Leiter's no hitter and the 1997 World Series games. He was an activities bus driver and sports announcer for Monarch and Coral Springs High Schools. Doug will be greatly missed by his wife of 36 years, Donna (Nee Price), daughter Sue Britz, Pompano, sons Doug Pett (Kim), PA, Michael Pett, St. Pete, and step daughter, Wendy Drinkwater (Michael), Coconut Creek: grandsons Michael Pett Jr., Doug and Thomas Pett, Dennis and Dillon Drinkwater & many friends. Visitation March 1, 6-9pm, Kraeer Mason, 6701 W. Commercial Blvd., Tamarac. Service March 2, 11am, All Saints Lutheran Church, 7875 W. McNab, Tamarac. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doug?s memory to the All Saints Lutheran Church building fund.
