Henry 'Bode' Fernand

Fernand ‘Bode’ Henry, lived a life shaped by courage, faith, gentle humor and an unwavering devotion to others. Henry is the sixth of twelve children, he grew up in a home where resilience, humility, unity and hard work were daily lessons and values that became

the quiet pillars of his character. At eleven years old, Henry survived a tragedy that forever marked his soul. After falling into the ocean, he was rescued by his mother, who gave her life to save him. Her final act became his life’s compass, inspiring him to live with purpose, compassion and grace.

In 1970, Henry left Haiti in search of a better life, settling first in the Bahamas and later in the United States. His bond with Bombardopolis, the town of his childhood, endured life a soft, unbroken thread; its memories echoing in his heart no matter how far he traveled.

A devoted Husband, father, brother and a profound spiritual man. Henry believed that no sacrifice was ever too great for his loved ones. His faith was the guiding force of his life.

After moving from the Bahamas to For Lauderdale, Henry studied the Bible with Brother Gerard Joachim. He made excellent progress and was baptized in 1976.

Henry was zealous, working diligently with brother Joachim, his family and the small local group of brothers to find those who were interested in learning the truth. Jehovah’s help in the field ministry, led to the establishment of the French-speaking group in Fort

Lauderdale, which eventually became a congregation which was established in the 1970’s which resulted in many speaking creole congregations in Fort. Lauderdale. Henry faithfully served the congregation as a ministerial servant. He was always willing to help people with a smile.

Henry is survived by his beloved children Fernande, Jonathan, Romell, Clifton and Mitchell. His sisters Clara and Rosemarie Henry; his former spouse Andree Moise, who was by his side in his final days. Henry leaves a legacy of love, faith, humor and hard work.

May he rest until Jehovah awakens those asleep in his memory.
