Joyce went to school in Jamaica and later studied at Rose Leon Beauty School. She came to the United States in August of 1963 and was employed as a key punch operator at a bank in New York. Her children joined her in New York in 1969. She moved to Florida in 1979, and the remainder of the family followed. Ms. Punancy owned her own hair salon in Palm Beach County doing what she loved. She lived the remainder of her life in Loxahatchee, Florida , gardening, tending to her fruit trees and chickens.
She is survived by her children, Errol, Lorna, Clement and Angela, 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and her niece Barbara “Violet” Huter.
She is preceded in death by her son, Winston Punancy.
Memorials may be given to Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Chapel. The family of Ms. Punancy wishes to thank Sandra, for six and a half years of around the clock love and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
