Shantae was accepted into Parkway Middle School Performing Arts Magnet program in 6th grade. She then auditioned for and was accepted at the Dillard High School Magnet Performing Arts program. Her next challenge was trying out for the New World Performing Arts College, and she once again was chosen for admittance.
Her first job after college was as a part-time dance instructor at the Overtown Youth Center in Miami, Florida. Two years later, Shantae became the dance teacher at Jose Diego Middle School. She worked at both of these places until her untimely death.
Besides being a mentor for other aspiring young dancers, Shantae continued pursuing her own dream of becoming a professional dancer, performing and choreographing at various companies and dance studios throughout Miami.
