A life beautifully lived, a heart generously given. Alberta Lee Bailey, a cherished resident of Tampa, Florida, was called home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2026, at the age of 91. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy of love, faith, and service will endure forever.
Born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, on September 26, 1934, to John and Myrtle Prettyman, Alberta’s life was one of unwavering dedication. She proudly served her country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. Following her service, she dedicated 20 years to Owens Corning Fiberglass as a senior administrative assistant before her well-earned retirement.
Alberta’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She was the loving wife and soulmate to the late Mr. Richard John Bailey Sr. for 67 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful life and a sprawling family that was her world. She leaves a legacy of love through her four sons: Richard Jr., David, Robert, and Jeffrey, and her three cherished daughters-in-law: Edie, Diane, and Rita. She was the beloved matriarch to an incredible 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored.
Her faith was not just a part of her life; it was its very foundation. As the longest-standing member of her church congregation, Alberta’s passion and commitment to serving the Lord were evident in all she did. She and her husband Richard poured their hearts into the Light House Gospel Mission and lifted their voices in praise with the "Bougainvillea's" gospel ensemble. For decades, as a Sunday School teacher, her gentle guidance and wisdom influenced hundreds of souls, leading many to a closer walk with the Lord. She was more than a wife and mother; she was a spiritual guide and a beacon of faith.
A celebration of Alberta's life will be held on March 30, 2026, at Northgate Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida. Friends and family are warmly invited to gather and share memories during a viewing at 10:00 am, with a service to honor her life beginning at 11:00 am.
While she will be profoundly missed, the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the faith she shared will continue to shine brightly in the countless hearts she warmed. Her memory will be treasured forever.
