DIAZ, Anthony J. (Tony), born on November 22, 1934, a native Floridian and life-long resi-dent of Tampa, passed away on October 14, 2015. He was 80 years of age. He was of the Chris-tian faith. He was prede-ceased his loving and lovey wife of 50+ years, Maria Pipitone Diaz; and his son, Paul. He is survived by two sons, Jack and Richard; granddaughter, Marisa; brother, Mario Diaz (Wilma); and sister, Mary Hale (Lawrence). He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, where he received several ribbons and medals, serving from January 1952 to November 1955. He also served in the Florida Natio-nal Guard, where he was activated for riot duty during his enlistment. After serving 21 years in the United States Merchant Marine as Chief Radio-Elec-tronics Officer, he retired in January of 1999. He was a past member of the VFW, American Legion and the Amateur Radio Relay League. Anthony Diaz was a devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed. Wake and funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Garden of Memories.
