Arthur Schmidt

August 10, 1929 - June 14, 2021

SCHMIDT, Arthur, 91, of Riverview, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021, in Sun City Center. He was preceded in death by his first wife (Norma), second wife (Florie), his son (Ronald) and his great granddaughter (Amelia). He is survived by his son (Donald), his daughter (Linda), 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was born in McKeesport, PA. He served his country in both the US Airforce and the National Guard, before becoming an Air Traffic Contoller for the Federal Aviation Administration for 34 years, before retiring at age 55. He was very active in his communities of Amherst, OH and Riverview/Brandon, FL. He was most proud of being a member of the Lions Club in both Amherst and Brandon for 47 years. He had a passion for helping others, photography, genealogy and history, in general. He was an avid mall walker and participated in the Gasparilla 5k Walking Race for several years until having a heart attack at the finish line in 2018 at the age of 88. He never let anything get him down and always strived to be better at everything he did. He will be forever in our hearts.

The family will receive family and friends for Visitation on Friday, June 25, 2021 between 1 and 2 PM, with Services beginning at 2 PM at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33610.
