Audrey F. Perez

Audrey F. Perez, age 101, of Tampa, Florida passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021. Audrey was born July 28, 1920 in Gadsden County, Florida and was the youngest child of Jim and Leila Mathewuse. She is survived by her four children, Waunda F. Douglas, Janice F. (Armon) Summerall, Joan Burns, and John Perez. Audrey was blessed with nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Audrey worked at The Dress Mart in downtown Tampa as a salesperson and did the alterations on the bridal gowns and other wedding attire. She was a talented seamstress who would look at children’s clothes at the fashionable stores then make her daughters clothes. They were the best dressed girls. Audrey loved to attend garage sales and have them. Her sales were well known as she would set them up like a shop. The table coverings were pressed and cleaned. She would have pricing tags on the merchandise but loved to wheel and deal. She was skilled at fixing items she bought and making them look new. Audrey continued to attend yard sales up into her 90’s. But the first priority for Audrey was her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her family. She loved her children and loved to tell them all what to do and how to do it. She never stopped being a mom. Today she is with the love of her life, Johnny. He passed in 1989 but she missed him everyday. Visitation for Audrey will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33610. A committal service will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pine Mountain Pentecostal Holiness Church, 111 Alderman Street, Galax, VA 24333 or Tryon Church of God, 3872 Lynn Road, Tryon, NC 28782.
