

Beverly Way Tyson, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 14th, 2025, in Tampa, Florida, at the age of 78.
Born on August 23, 1946, in Tampa, Beverly lived a full and spirited life rooted in family, faith, and community. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Norman Tyson, and is survived by her four beloved children: CeLyn Tyson, Shawn Tyson, Michael Tyson, and Steven Tyson. Her legacy continues through her 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren—with one more on the way; her brother James D. Way, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Beverly’s life was dedicated to caring for others. She lovingly raised her four children in Lutz, Florida while working part time in local schools before building a career at the University of South Florida, where she retired from the Athletic Department.
Her passions extended beyond her work. Beverly had a lifelong love for horses and was proud to have earned ribbons in local rodeo and was a member of the Lutz Bit and Bridle Club. She was also honored to be crowned Miss Lutz in the 4th of July Beauty Pageant. Beverly also found joy in the peaceful beauty of both the beach and the mountains, especially when surrounded by loved ones.
A woman of deep faith, Beverly was a devout Christian and lived her life guided by the Word of God. She was known for her joyful spirit, her encouraging heart, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. Beverly brought warmth and light into every room, always ready with a smile or an uplifting word.
Services to celebrate Beverly’s life will be held on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, at Blount and Curry Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., and a graveside ceremony at approximately 12:30 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Beverly's life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 27 located at 6912 N. Florida Avenue, Tampa, FL immediately following the funeral.
Beverly will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family finds comfort in the many memories she leaves behind and in knowing she is now at peace.
