

Dykes, Carl, 97, of Lutz, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018. Carl was born in Marianna, FL on May 19, 1921. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the US Navy from 1942 to 1945. After the war, Carl moved to Tampa and enjoyed a long career with Hood Dairy. He loved his Lord, his family, and new adventures. He was a member of Cypress Creek Church in Lutz. He was an avid bowler, fisherman and 4-wheeler. Carl was preceded in death by two sons, John Randall Dykes and Gregory Dykes. He is survived by daughter, Debra Hills (Don); grandchildren, Ivan Riley (David Lunden), Windy Riley and Eric Hills); daughter, Sandra Gorsuch (Barry Griffiths); grandchildren, Ricky Gorsuch (Jessica) and Ashley Glawson (Tommy); daughter, Cindy Holliday (Ron); grandchildren, Amy Martin (Sean) and Tyler Howell; daughter-in-law, Diana Dykes; granddaughter, Samantha Dykes; grandchildren, Christopher, Brian and Meaghan Dykes, and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral service will take place at 3 pm on Sunday, June 10, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 3207 West Bearss Avenue, Tampa. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Following the service, Carl will be laid to rest at Lake Carroll Cemetery with Military Honors. Donations may be made to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in honor of Huntley Martin, Carl’s great-grandson.
