

Carolyn Ann Welsh Bodo, 84, passed away on February 27, 2018 at the Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, Florida after a brief illness. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland to William and Ethel (Tennant) Welsh. She graduated from Seton High School and continued close friendships with several of her classmates for 65 years. She received her B.S. in History from Notre Dame University (Maryland) and earned her Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of South Florida. She married her husband, Dr. Joseph Bodo, Jr. in 1957 and resided at Camp Lejeune, NC while he fulfilled his military service with the Marine Corps. When he opened his dental practice, she moved to their permanent home in Tampa, Florida. She was life-long Roman Catholic and a proud founding family member of St. Paul R.C. Church in Carrollwood. She started her career as a professional librarian in education at Tampa Catholic High School, worked with college students at USF and assisted military veterans and their families in the medical library at the VA Hospital in north Tampa. She regarded her roles as wife, mother and grandmother as the most important and fulfilling of her life. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Joseph Paul Bodo, D.D.S., along with their children, Ann E. Bodo Tavino (Tom) of Moneta, Va, Joseph P. Bodo (Gina) of Tampa, Mary A. Bodo Jones (Eric) of Kissimmee and William S. Bodo of Jacksonville, Fl. She is survived by her sister, Mary E. Welsh Wildberger of Fairfield, CA and cousin, Sister Virginia Ann Brooks, D.C. of Evansville, IN. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Emily and Elyse Tavino, Anthony and Joanna Bodo, and Travis and Garrett Jones, along with nieces Kate Cullen, Marta Graham, Sara Wildberger, Laura Bodo and nephews Steve Wildberger, Mike Wildberger, David Bodo, Kevin Bodo and Sean Bodo. She was member and served terms as Chapter President of DAR, Tampa Chapter and of the St. Petersburg Chapter of CDXVIIC, along with serving as the State Chaplain for CDXVIIC. Her hobbies included needlework/embroidery, historic research, travel and family genealogy. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul R.C. Church in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm. A celebration reception will immediately follow the church service at the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club, 200 Inverness Avenue, Temple Terrace, Florida 33617.
