Jean   I am so heartbroken for you.  Chris was the first person i met when i moved to Florida .He came to our house with John.  I remember when John was sick he called to see how he was doing.  I will never forget him.  It will be so sad not to hear Lorene talking about "Jean and Chris" as she did often. Jean, My heart goes out to you and the kids. What a shock, I hope and pray for the strength you need to make it through this trying time. I can remember all the good times from middle school, high school, your wedding, and some really great parties. The thing I remember most is the incredible love Chris always had for you, his high school sweetheart. That love turned in to so much more with the birth of your children. What an amazing dad he was! I hope you can find some sort of comfort knowing how blessed you all were to have him for the time you did. Love to my old friend.

I've known Chris for many years. I always was happy to see him when he came in to pick up or deliver. We always talked about the kids. It really blew my mind when he came in without the beard. But when he told me why, I had a whole new level of respect for him. I will never forget him. He will always be in my thoughts and my prayers. We will all miss you Chris.

I first met Chris quite a few years ago when he picked up and made deliveries at my job. He drove the Watkins truck then....always had a smile on his face every time we saw him. He was an amazing person. Always talking about his wife and children. I am still shocked to hear of this. My heart goes out to his family. He will definitely be missed...God bless you all.

We are so sad and will miss Chris, our hearts and prayers to the family. Being a customer of FedEx the one thing that we know is how much Chris LOVES Jean and his kids. This was so evident when he showed up with no hair.

Chris was an incredible man and I feel lucky to have worked with him for so many years at watkins.  He always had a smile for myself and everyone he worked with.  Our deepest sympathy to the family.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.  I've known Chris for probably 20 years through three different companies, since I was 16 and working summers at my mom's company.  I don't think I ever once saw him in a bad mood.  He had an infectious smile that made you want to stop working to chat with him for a minute.  We would always talk sports and family, two things that are very important to both of us.  I know how proud he was of his children, as we always shared stories about our kid's accomplishments.  

Chris' smile (and that beard) will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  I hope you realize how well known and respected he was by the people who knew him around the area.

My deepest condolences to The Hale Family at this difficult time. Chris was a dear friend of mine. I had the pleasure of meeting Chris in 1993, working together at Transus Freight, until we were let go due to a buy out. I was let go a few months before he was, but when I found out he was being laid off, I told him to come over to Watkins Motor Lines, fill out an application and I will get you in. I then asked my boss Tony Black, " please hire my buddy Chris, you won't regret it," and he did. Chris would always bust my balls by saying, " you might have more seniority than I do, but I can still kick your a**!"...joking of coarse. We ran routes together for Watkins in Tampa and Pinellas County. After I left Watkins, I went to Fed Ex Freight, but I would still run into Chris on my route everyday in Clearwater. We would often have lunch together and talk and the subject that came up most was his family. Chris loved his family more than "ANYTHING" in the world. His love for his wife Jean (Jeannie I believe he referred to her as) was inseparable....and his love for his kids immeasurable. He also always talked about what a loving Mother he had. I was fortunate to meet them all.  Although Chris and I haven't seen each other in a few years, I always thought of Chris as a true friend and will always remember the great times Chris, Jean and I had at the old Yellow Rose Pub, routing for The Cleveland Browns. I believe Chris even brought his Mom down there too...lol.....Anyways, I am sorry for the lengthy text, I just wanted to share some of my stories with you all, to show what a great guy we will all truly miss, but I'm sure you already knew that. Jean, I am so sorry for your loss and if there is anything we can do, my family and I are always here for you. God Bless you all. Love always....

Jean, Erin and Brian, I am so sorry. When I got the news it broke my heart. Your family is so wonderful. I can't even imagine what you all are going thru, I know how close your family is but I know that Chris would not want you all to be sad. Nothing I can say will take away the pain, but you were able to experience a love so pure and rare, the love of a lifetime. I am so thankful for yesterday...the time I got to spend laughing and talking sports and family with my good buddy Chris.  I'm still in shock and can't imagine not seeing him everyday at work. I had the pleasure of getting to know Chris through him delivering at my work. We had so much to talk about when it came to our daughter's and their softball life. The happiness in his eyes when he spoke of his daughter was so very special!  I will truly miss seeing and talking to him about his Travel Ball trips with his family!
