Born in Chicago, Illinois, Dave grew up with strong Midwestern values that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School before beginning a career with United Airlines, where he dedicated many years of service and built lifelong friendships.
A proud American, Dave honorably served his country for three years in the United States Army, spending much of his service time stationed in Germany. He carried that sense of duty and patriotism with him throughout his life.
Dave found his greatest joy in his family. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren, whether sharing stories, traveling, or simply enjoying being together. His love for adventure took him to many places, and he especially treasured traveling with those he loved.
His faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where he deeply valued his church community and the friendships and fellowship he found there. His love for his church family was evident in the time and heart he devoted to them.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Winslow Lodge; his daughter, Debbie Lodge Gomes and her husband Jorge Gomes; his daughter-in-law, Jessica Lodge; his cherished grandchildren, Samantha Lodge Hill and her husband Nick Hill, Jake Lodge, Matthew Lodge, Josh Lodge, and Nick Lodge; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael David Lodge.
Dave will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery with the honor and dignity befitting his faithful service to his country.
Dave will be remembered for his steadfast love for his family, his devotion to his country, and the quiet strength, warmth, and kindness he showed throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Gulfside Hospice in Dave’s memory.
